“I have made a satisfactory dinner of a dish of purslane which I gathered and boiled. Yet, men have come to such a pass that they starve, not for want of necessities, but for want of luxuries.”

Go Get Your Nuts!
It's nut gathering season in Tennessee! What's your favorite nut recipe?
Black Walnuts, make a tincture with the hull and enjoy the nut!
Sawtooth Oak Acorns - makes a great flour, especially used in crusts.
Probably my favorite nut around here is the Pecan. Next would be the Black Walnut than Acorns. I am lucky to have 5 Pecan Trees around my house ( http://ethnobotanist128.blogspot.com/2010/10/pear-bowl-with-pecans-its-that-time-of.html ) Black Walnuts and Acorns I get from friends. http://ethnobotanist128.blogspot.com/2011/12/acorn-muffins.html
